Breast cancer was one of the defining events of my life. It brought me back to quilting. Each stripe represents one year since I have been cancer free. Some years were harder to get through, so the stripes are different widths. The two leaves represent my husband and me. The flowers represent our children. The girls have their own families: the leaf beads represent their children. Our son, who is a student at KU, hasn’t quite left home. This quilt was made almost entirely from scraps from the quilt I think of as my Breast Cancer Quilt. It’s a work in process but that’s ok because I have plenty of time left to get it done.

Bless you that you are cancer free. What a lovely way to celebrate your years of remission (or hopefully complete recovery). I commend you for your lovely work and I pray that you will never again have to fight that cancer.
